Riviera Beach House Fire Displace 2 Residents

Anna Arundel County Fire Department officials say a Riviera Beach house fire started when a resident slept while food was cooking.

RIVIERA BEACH, MD — A kitchen fire caused about $100,000 damage to a Riviera Beach house Monday night, and has displaced two residents from the home in Riviera Beach, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. The fire in the 200 block of Carroll Road was reported at 6:35 p.m.

The first firefighters on the story reported the one-story house had fire in the kitchen and attic. Thirty-five firefighters brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes.

Authorities say a man who lives in the house fell asleep with food cooking on the stove, which caused the accidental fire.
