Robbers Can't Crack ATM Safe: Police

A Davidsonville gas station clerk was threatened by three men early Monday morning as they broke into an ATM.

DAVIDSONVILE, MD — Three would-be ATM robbers had to make do with trashing a Davidsonville gas station when they failed to crack the cash machine’s safe, police say.

Anne Arundel County Police were called about 3 a.m. Monday to the Davidsonville BP gas station at 551 W. Central Ave.

The clerk told police that several male suspects wearing masks entered the station and accosted him. The suspects pointed an unknown type weapon at the clerk and tried to open the ATM safe.

While the robbery suspects caused significant damage to the machine, they did not succeed in breaking into its safe, police said.

The suspects ransacked the store, then fled the scene.

A search of the area failed to locate the suspects, who were described as three black males, all wearing dark clothing.
