Guinness is a beautiful 4 year old neutered male Pug (mix?). He looks just like a Pug, only slightly larger. He weighs around 26lbs and is at his ideal weight. Guinness can easily be described in one word, and that is: happy. He is just a good boy looking for someone to be his lifelong friend. He is at that wonderful age where he will play like a pup but after a quick romp or a good walk, he is ready to just hang out with his human companions. He loves a good game of keep away or fetch with a stuffed animal and he also enjoys playing with other dogs. We feel he would be fine as an only dog provided he receives plenty of attention, or with another dog similar in size or slightly larger. His personality is very submissive and puppyish both with humans and canines alike. He is crate trained, has shown no signs of aggression, learns quickly and is eager to please. Guinness' start in life was not that best and as a result, he has some residual issues that will require patience. He submissively urinates when someone goes to pick him up. Guinness also has tendencies to eat non-food objects so he must be supervised carefully. This behavior has lessened (but not disappeared) in his foster home. With appropriate exercise, a nutritious diet, mental stimulation, and training, we feel that this is a condition that could be resolved. When Guinness was surrendered he was said to have an irritable bowel, however, his foster family has completely resolved this condition with a holistic diet. We are seeking a home with the following: previous (or current) canine experience, preferably a fenced yard, no small children under the age of 12, and a stable living situation. Guinness is a beautiful, sweet dog who truly deserves to find a person or family who will cherish him for the wonderful soul that he is. Please note that in addition to the adoption application, we will require a veterinary reference and will conduct a home visit once the application has been approved. Guinness' adoption fee is $325.
