The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. SHADY SIDE, MD — Due to an ongoing power outage, Shady Side Elementary School will close at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, because of a power outage, Anne Arundel County Public Schools officials said. Students who ride the bus to the school at 4859 Atwell Road, Shady Side, will be taken home via the normal routes at that time.Students who walk to school will also be dismissed at that time.Image via Shutterstock
