Snow Closing Senior Centers Across Anne Arundel County

BREAKING: Snow predicted to turn roads icy later today has prompted the early closure of Anne Arundel County Senior Centers on Dec. 15.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — With snowfall predicted to turn roads icy later in the day, officials plan to close Anne Arundel County Senior Centers early on Friday, Dec. 15. According to a news release, all Senior Activity Centers will close at 1 p.m.

The Nutrition Program will still serve lunch, county officials aid. All classes and activities planned at 1 p.m. or after are cancelled.

Also closing early Friday are Anne Arundel County Public Schools, which will dismiss classes two hours early. There will be no afternoon half-day sessions of pre-kindergarten or ECI classes.

In addition, all school-sponsored after-school activities scheduled for Friday, including evening middle school and high school classes, are canceled, district officials said. Parents of All-County Orchestra students who are at North County High School on Friday must pick up those students no later than 12:30 p.m.

At this time, all school activities scheduled for Saturday, Dec.16, will take place as scheduled. For the status of activities sponsored by agencies other than Anne Arundel County Public Schools, including after-school day care, check with that agency.

The region is under a winter weather advisory for snow from 1 to 7 p.m., with 1 to 2 inches of accumulation expected.
