South River Baseball Advances to State Semifinals

The Seahawks defeated North County 5-2 Friday night in the region finals.

The South River baseball team defeated North County 5-2 Friday night and advances to the state semifinals on Tuesday afternoon.

The No. 4 Seahawks will face No. 2 Eleanor Roosevelt High School in the state semifinals at the University of Maryland at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

South River easily handled No. 3 North County Friday night in the 4A east region final. Brody Raimondo went 4-4 at the plate as South River overcame a shaky start to secure a 5-2 victory over North County in seven innings.

Prince George’s County team Eleanor Roosevelt topped the No. 1-seeded Bowie High School 6-4 to advance to the state semifinals.

According to The Baltimore Sun, South River baseball coach Ken Dunn announced that he will retire at the end of the season. His team now sits one win away from the state championship game.
