South River Baseball, Boys Lacrosse Capture Wins in Postseason Play
The South River Boys lacrosse team won the regional championship game on Wednesday with a 10-3 victory over Chesapeake High.

The South River High School boys lacrosse and baseball teams were both victorious in postseason play Wednesday night and will advance in their state tournaments.
The South River girls lacrosse team’s season came to an end Wednesday night in the regional finals with a 14-13 loss to Broadneck High School.

With a 10-3 win over Chesapeake High School, the boys lacrosse team won the class 3A/4A east regional championship and is now one victory away from returning to the state final.
The Seahawks will now face Howard High School in the state semifinals at Annapolis High School on Saturday.

Matt Gaskins and Brandon Senft led South River to the 10-3 victory with three goals each, according to The Baltimore Sun. The Seahawks scored the first seven goals in the second half of play to secure a comfortable lead over Chesapeake.
South River’s victory ended a Cinderella run for underdog Chesapeake High. The Cougars had knocked off three higher seeded teams, including No. 1-ranked Northern High, to get to the region final.
Baseball
South River’s impressive offensive outing in the postseason continued Wednesday night as the Seahawks defeated Broadneck High 4-0 in the class 4A east region semifinals.
The victory on Wednesday marked the Seahawks fourth shutout in the last five games, and second shutout in postseason play.
Leading the shutout on the mound was Craig Sheridan who kept Broadneck off balance all game. During his six innings of work, Sheridan struck out three and allowed no walks and just four hits.
The Seahawks now advance to play North County in the region finals on Friday at 4 p.m.
