South River High School Publishes Senior Class Updates For April 30

Dear Senior Students and Parents:

"Although saddened by the announcement that all proms have been cancelled in Anne Arundel County, the spirit of celebrations for seniors will not be diminished at South River High. Using the Senior Celebration Survey information, which is online on our website, teachers will be recording “Shout Outs” for each senior who completes the survey. All the recordings will be played over the air on AACPS Crab Radio. Dates for the airing will be announced.
If you have not yet completed the survey, and want to be recognized, the survey deadline is Friday, May 8.

Our Senior Awards assembly will be held in a virtual format on May 19th. The planning committee has been working to gather videos of the presentations for the assembly. We want our seniors to receive the recognitions they justly deserve.

Seniors are encouraged to send their scholarship offers to tchaffer@aacps.org for inclusion in the school scholarship total which will be announced during the graduation ceremony.

The question on everyone’s mind is:
What is going to happen to graduation ceremonies?
Until Governor Hogan eases or lifts his mandate on group gatherings and social distancing, holding traditional graduations will not be possible at this time. Final decisions will be made as late as possible in the hope we can hold our graduation ceremony before the end of the school year. Many contingencies are being considered.
Regardless of the final decision, South River will be ready to honor the class of 2020."

Aunque estamos entristecidos por el anuncio que todos los bailes de graduación han sido cancelados en el condado de Anne Arundel, la serie de celebraciones para seniors no será disminuida en South River High.
