South River’s Lavon Chaney Excels in Football, Lacrosse
The senior athlete was recently featured in The Washington Post.

South River High School’s Lavon Chaney led this year’s football squad to its first postseason since 2006.
Chaney, who has committed to play football at Monmouth next year, led Anne Arundel County in rushing yards during football season and has now transferred his athletic talents to the lacrosse field.
The defensive specialist was recently featured in The Washington Post after No. 6 South River easily handled county lacrosse rival Severna Park 10-5 on Tuesday night. The Seahawks remain unbeaten in Anne Arundel County play.

The Washington Post article highlighted that while Chaney may do a lot of scoring during the football season—18 touchdowns his senior year—when it comes to lacrosse he prefers to be on the defensive side of the field.
The South River lacrosse team, which has won two straight state titles, wraps up regular season play on Friday at Annapolis High School.
