Spay Spa & Neuter Nook Receives Funds to Spay/Neuter 700 Animals
Will provide free spay/neuter surgeries to dogs and cats belonging to residents of Severn, Pasadena, Glen Burnie and Brooklyn Park.

Davidsonville, MD -(November 5, 2014) The Spay Spa & Neuter Nook, a high quality, low cost spay neuter clinic located in Davidsonville, MD received funding from the Maryland Department of Agriculture to help low income and senior citizens care for their pets. The project, called “Fix Anne Arundel” will provide free spay or neuter surgeries and rabies vaccines for cats and dogs in Pasadena, Glen Burnine, Brooklyn Park and Severn. Transportation to and from the clinic will be provided.

This program was created to help individuals and families better afford veterinary care for their pets and to reduce the number of unwanted litters of kittens and puppies turned into animal controls and shelters. “Spaying and neutering pets is a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation. It also reduces the pets’ risk of developing several different cancers” said Katherine Evans, President of Rude Ranch Animal Rescue. “We encourage everyone to have any animal they are caring for spayed or neutered.”

In addition to the spay/neuter surgery each pet will receive a rabies vaccination, which is required by law. To qualify for “Fix Anne Arundel” a pet owner must live in Glen Burnie, Brooklyn Park, Pasadena or Severn, and receive government assistance. All pets must weigh at least two pounds and be at least 8 weeks of age. The project is scheduled to start mid-December. To make an appointment for “Fix Anne Arundel”, residents should call 443.607.6496.

The Spay Spa & Neuter Nook performs over 5,000 spay or neuter surgeries each year. In February, 2015 the clinic will reach it’s 10,000th surgery since opening in October, 2012.
