The suspects drove the bus through a gate to start their joy ride, so the bus has extensive front-end damage, plus numerous broken windows.

The county’s aviation unit found the bus about 9:15 a.m. on Governor Bridge Road and Strawberry Run in Davidsonville, reports WJLA TV.

Police were approached by a witness about 11:15 a.m. who reported seeing two suspicious subjects walking in the middle of the roadway at the intersection of Governors Bridge Road and Strawberry Run Road about 6:15 a.m. The suspects were captured on video surveillance from the bus.

Authorities say the pair, a man and a woman, eventually drove a dark-colored sedan eastbound on Governors Bridge Road. Based on this information, two people matching the witness’ description were located at a residence in the area of the 700 block of Governor’s Bridge Road around noon and taken into custody without incident.

Before the bus crashed in the wooded area it struck a BGE tower. The suspects also trieed to set the bus on fire after the crash, police say.

It appears the suspects were under the influence of alcohol and were looking for change to purchase cigarettes. They had no known affiliation to the Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
