Suspected Kitchen Fire Causes Damage To Edgewater Home

A fire reportedly broke out in the kitchen of a split foyer Edgewater home July 26.

EDGEWATER, MD — A two-story single-family Edgewater home caught on fire July 26 when a fire reportedly broke out in the kitchen. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the home at 570 Central Ave. East. One firefighter was injured and transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

More than 50 firefighters from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and the Annapolis Fire Department battled the fire, which caused an estimated $30,000. The 911 call reported smoke pouring from the attic and rear of the home. A fire was discovered on the lower level of the split foyer home.

Tankers shuttled water from fire hydrants located at South River High School. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit. The homeowners were not present at the time of the fire.
