Tanker Truck Crash Closed Route 2 in Both Directions

The road closure in Harwood lasted most of Monday morning.

Route 2 between Mill Swamp Road and Harwood Road was closed in both directions after a tanker truck and a small commercial vehicle collided this morning, according to battalion chief Steve Thompson, spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire department. The accident happened before 10 a.m.

The delay was caused because the collision required the tanker truck's fuel contents to be offloaded to another tanker truck.

Thompson said the truck was carrying about 8,600 gallons of fuel. Police were on the scene to block traffic.
