Teen Faces Felony Charges in BB Gun Shooting of Edgewater Boy

An 18-year-old living with an Edgewater family faces attempted murder charge for allegedly shooting a 9-year-old in the head with a BB gun.

Edgewater, MD — A man charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting an Edgewater boy in the head with a BB gun has been released on $175,000 bond, court records show.

Brandon Lee Stallings, 18, of Prince Frederick, was the focus of a bond hearing Tuesday. He is scheduled to be back in Anne Arundel County District Court on July 20 for a preliminary hearing.

According to Maryland online court records, Stallings is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Authorities say Stallings pumped the air-rifle several times and shot a 9-year-old in the temple at an Edgewater home while adults were in another room watching TV. A day later the child was taken to the hospital; doctors decided to leave the BB in the boy’s brain rather than risk surgery.

The victim’s mother told The Capital-Gazette that while Stallings claims the gun fired by mistake when he was twirling it, she doesn’t believe his story.
