Traffic Alert: Route 214 Reopens After Gas Main Break (Update)

Edgewater area schools should have no delays Tuesday, one day after Route 214 was closed by a gas main break, officials said.

UPDATED at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday EDGEWATER, MD — Central Avenue reopened about 9:30 p.m. Monday so no delays are expected Tuesday morning, say school officials. Parents picking up students in the Edgewater area, as well as drivers trying to get through the region faced delays Monday after a gas main break closed Route 214 between Noblewood Road and Route 468.

Anne Arundel County Police said about 3 p.m. that BGE officials expect the road to be closed for about six hours on Monday.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools said on Twitter to expect delays for buses at South River High School, Central Middle School, Central Elementary School, CAT-South, Central Special, and Mayo Elementary School. All buses will make all stops.

Students will remain supervised at their school until they are picked up or boarding bus to be taken home.
