Zumba, Pickleball Planned For Older Americans Month Celebration

Two special events will be held in Odenton and Edgewater this month to recognize the endless contributions and value of local seniors.

EDGEWATER, MD – Anne Arundel County seniors and their loved ones are encouraged to celebrate Older Americans Month this May by attending two special events featuring an assortment of activities hosted by the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities. Seniors will be able to try billiards, Zumba, quilting, pickleball, genealogy and observe a woodworking demonstration at the special events to be held in Edgewater and Odenton.

Every May, older adults across the nation are recognized for their contributions to their communities and society. The 2019 theme is Connect, Create, Contribute, which encourages older adults and their communities to:

  • Connect with friends, family, and services that support participation.
  • Create by engaging in activities that promote learning, health, and personal enrichment.
  • Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to invite all county residents to our OAM celebrations," said Pamela Jordan, director of the Department of Aging and Disabilities, in a press release. "Older adults are an inspiration to us all and the foundation of our communities."
