2 Eldersburg Residents Stable After Fatal Columbia Crash: Police

One person was killed in a three-vehicle collision on Cedar Lane Wednesday, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Three others—including two Eldersburg residents and a man from Silver Spring—were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where police said they were listed as stable.

Ethan Max Kirshenbaum, 24, of the 1400 block of Battery Avenue in Baltimore, was pronounced dead at the scene on Cedar Lane near Harriet Tubman Lane, police reported.

Kirshenbaum, who was not wearing a seatbelt, crossed from southbound Cedar Lane into northbound lanes, hitting a 2013 Toyota Tacoma, according to police. He was ejected from his 2004 Jeep Liberty and declared deceased after first responders were unable to resuscitate him, police said.

After the crash, the Tacoma was hit by a 2010 Mazda 3 that was also headed north, police said.

A 42-year-old Eldersburg woman who was driving the Tacoma and her two passengers, a 17-year-old Eldersburg man and a 56-year-old Silver Spring man, were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where police said they were listed in stable condition. All were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, police said.

The 18-year-old Clarksville man driving the Mazda 3, who was also wearing his seatbelt, was treated and released at the scene, according to police.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, and Cedar Lane was closed between Freetown Road and Harriet Tubman Lane until 6 p.m., according to the report.
