57 Homes in Sykesville Impacted by Water Main Work

Carroll County Bureau of Utilities had to temporarily shut down water, officials said.

The following is a statement from Carroll County government, issued Monday:

At approximately 3 p.m. the Carroll County Bureau of Utilities temporarily shut down water service to approximately 57 homes in Sykesville to do an emergency repair to a leaking water valve on Bennett Road in the Oak Creek Development.

The emergency crew is in route and will be working approximately 6-8 hours to repair the line and restore service. Residents will be without water while the repair is made.

Streets that are affected by the shutdown include Shelby Court, Oden Court, Oden Way, Philben Circle and Bennett Road.

When service is restored residents may experience cloudy water lasting up to an hour. Turning the cold water tap on and running water for several minutes will clear the lines. It is advisable to refrain from using high water volume appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, etc., during periods of cloudy water or low pressure.
