Bike to Work Day Rally at County Office Building
Join fellow bikers at the Bike to Work rally at the County Office Building from noon to 1 p.m.

As gas prices stress the wallet and warmer weather approaches, some people are relying on just two wheels to get to work.
Friday, May 18. is Bike to Work Day, an initiative of the Clean Commute Partnership, which includes the Baltimore Metropolitan Council, Baltimore Regional Transportation Board, the Maryland Departments of the Environment and Transportation, and Clean Air Partners.

A rally is planned for Westminster in the from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. Ride your bike to work on Friday and stop by for free refreshments, t-shirts, giveaways, and prizes.
During Clean Commute Month, residents are encouraged to help clear the air by trying an alternative to driving to and from work alone. Alternatives include walking, biking, using transit, carpooling and telecommuting. Commuting by bicycle is a great way to reduce vehicle emissions from fossil fuels and improve the quality of the air we breathe, according to a Baltimore Metropolitan Council news release.

Biking to work provides personal benefits, too. With gasoline prices inching back upwards, bicycling to work can add up to real money in your pocket. Biking to work also promotes physical fitness and allows riders to make new friends and experience their commute from a different perspective.
