In this modern day retelling of “Huckleberry Finn,” Zak (Zack Gottsagen), a young man with Down syndrome, runs away from his care home to chase his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. Through circumstances beyond their control, Tyler (Shia LaBeouf), a small-time outlaw on the run, becomes Zak's unlikely coach and ally. Together, they wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whisky, find God, catch fish, and convince Eleanor (Dakota Johnson), a kind nursing home employee with a story of her own, to join them on their journey.

After directors Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz met Gottsagen at a camp for actors with disabilities, they were inspired to write a film that could showcase his talents. The film’s plot draws on Gottsagen’s own love of wrestling and reflects his personal journey to achieve his dreams despite the odds. The film premiered at the 2019 South by Southwest film festival and went on to become a sleeper hit during its theatrical release.

The matinee showing at 1 pm will have open captioning to increase the enjoyment of movies at the Arts Center for those with hearing impairments. The 7:30 pm showing will have captioning if requested in advance. Assistive Listening Devices are always available.

This screening is sponsored by BaylorCAD. The film runs 1 hour 37 minutes and is rated PG-13 for thematic content, language throughout, some violence and smoking.
