Westminster, MD (August 2, 2021) – The Shepherd’s Staff, a privately funded Christian outreach and support center, is seeking donations and other items for their annual Back-to-School Program.  The program, created to provide Carroll County students in need with brand new school supplies, backpacks and socks and shoes, will collect donations from June 21 through the third week of August for the 2021/2022 School Year.

“This program ensures that as many students as possible in Carroll County will be prepared with the necessary tools to have a successful start to the school year,” stated Brenda Meadows, Executive Director at The Shepherd’s Staff.  “As a privately funded organization, we rely on the generosity of our community of churches, businesses, organizations and individuals to help make this possible through their donations.”

Over 600 students were served last year, down from over 1,200 the previous year due to the uncertainty surrounding the school year.  This year The Shepherd’s Staff is expecting to serve at least that number.  “Along with grade-specific school supplies, socks and funds for shoes, the biggest need this year is for backpacks, new underwear and new socks,” Meadows continued.  “They may seem like basic items, but they are essential to help children build self-confidence and feel good about themselves.  It also eases the burden on their parents and guardians.”

To schedule a time to drop off your donations between now and the third week of August, please call 410-857-5944 before delivering items to The Shepherd’s Staff office (30 Carroll Street, Westminster, MD 21157).  Financial donations for shoes and supplies are also welcome and will be used to purchase items that are not donated.  Funds may be donated by visiting The Shepherd’s Staff new website:  www.shepstaff.org, clicking on the “Ways to Give” tab and clicking on Back to School.  They may also be made by mailing a check to the organizations PO Box 127, Westminster, MD 21158.  For those that are not able to get out to shop local, an Amazon WishList is available through the organizations website to purchase items that will be delivered to a secure location, please do not have items shipped directly to the organization.
