Carroll County Inmate Death Under Investigation: Sheriff

The man was charged with violating a protective order and having a firearm on his person, among other offenses, according to court records.

A Westminster man died at the Carroll County Detention Center over Labor Day weekend in what officials say may have been a suicide, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the detention center in the 100 block of North Court Street for a report of an unconscious inmate just before 2 p.m. on Friday, the sheriff’s office reported.

Ronnie Mosko, 43, of the 3500 block of Westview Road in Westminster, was unresponsive in a single-occupancy holding cell, the report said. He had been arrested Wednesday night for a nonviolent domestic-related offense, the sheriff’s office said. Court records show Mosko was charged with violating a protective order, two counts of having a handgun on his person, possessing a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
