Is Yoga Religious?

Yoga is not a religion.

Yoga is about you connecting your mind and body; rather than being “bendy,”  incredibly flexible or subscribing to any type of belief.

Flexibility is not a pre-requisite to do yoga.

Yoga means to “yoke” or to “join” – joining the mind and the body.

Breath.  

So, Yoga is not a secret society, nor is it a religion. Yoga is the practice of deep breathing and conscious, deliberate movements (or, “poses” in a yoga class) to help to open up pathways to promote joining of the body and mind. 

Notice I said "practice" and not "perfection." That's important to remember.

The only similarities that I see with yoga and religion is that both can bring about significant change; if you are willing to open your mind to the possibilities.
