Jacie Mathias-Jones receives Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame Award from McDaniel College

Mathias-Jones of Westminster, Md., is a 2000 alumna of the college

Jacie Mathias-Jones of Westminster, Md., is a recipient of the Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame award from McDaniel College. She graduated from the college in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

Presented annually during McDaniel’s Homecoming, the Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame award is presented to a graduate and former athlete who has performed outstandingly as an undergraduate athlete and who has contributed to society since leaving the college.

A member of the women’s softball team, Mathias-Jones was an All-Centennial Conference first team selection in 1997, 1999 and 2000. She was also the Centennial Conference Player of the Year in 2000. She ranks first in career walks and in most hits in a game, as well as third in most career runs batted in and most walks in a season. She has the fifth highest season on base percentage, sixth highest career on base percentage and 10th highest season slugging percentage. She graduated as the second all-time home run hitter in the program and conference history.

Mathias-Jones is currently the program director at the Community Foundation of Carroll County. She has continued to play softball on many recreation leagues and has coached and mentored other athletes, including the varsity softball team at Westminster High School. She was inducted into the Carroll County Hall of Fame in 2013.
