Kids Explore, Learn, Create at Carroll Community College Summer Camps

Carroll Community College offers a variety of summer camps for kids of all ages. Patch caught up with a couple of kids in the following camps this week:

Veterinary CSI

Instructor Marian Beattie teaches kids what to do when they find a dog that was hit by a car or other injured animals. Students follow the case of the animal and learn how to diagnose conditions and explore treatment procedures including possible surgery.

They also learn to use a stethoscope to hear the heart and lungs and view and interpret real x-rays of an injured dog. They explore specialized equipment used for injured animals and learn about the nursing care a recovering animal needs. This camp includes a trip to a local animal hospital to see the real deal.

The cost of the camp is $150 and there are two camp sessions in August.

Art Attack

In this camp, instructor Ken Ecker encourages kids to use their imagination and a variety of materials to create unique artwork. Campers may paint, sculpt, collage, explore texture, and whatever else strikes their fancy. Students create unique environments, 3-D paintings and much other type of interesting art. 

The cost is $150 and there are two sessions at the end of July.
