Man Killed by Falling Tree in Woodbine: Officials
He was tending to the grill when the tree fell, Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reported.

A tree that fell in Woodbine Saturday afternoon killed one man, injured three children and caused extensive property damage, Howard County officials reported.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, first responders were called to the 2800 block of Daisy Road in Woodbine for a report of a man trapped under a tree at a residence, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
When the crew arrived, the man was found fatally injured, and witnesses said he had been working at the grill when a large tree fell, according to the department’s report.

Three children who were home at the time of the incident sustained minor injuries, two of whom were taken to Howard County General Hospital, where they were treated and released, officials said.
The tree also damaged four vehicles and created a hole in the roof of the home, the department reported; as a result, the house was posted as uninhabitable, and the family was being assisted by the Red Cross and the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services chaplain, according to the report.

Preliminary investigation indicates the tree rotted and gave way, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, which reported the exact cause remained under investigation Saturday night. The identity of the man has not yet been released as of 12:30 a.m.
