Resource Center Provides Re-Employment Services

The county Business & Employment Resource Center provided assistance to those who lost jobs at Superfresh last week.

The Carroll County Business & Employment Resource Center (BERC) recently provided Rapid Response services at the Mount Airy Superfresh for employees affected by the closure of the Mount Airy and Westminster stores.

Both stores closed last week. A representative of BERC presented an overview of the various free services available to the employees that can assist them with transitioning from layoff to new employment.

Services available are resume assistance, instructions on how to interview, skill assessments and skill upgrade, career development and job search assistance. Additionally, a representative from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation offered information on unemployment benefits.

Manager Denise Rickell stated, “I encourage all Superfresh employees affected by the store closings to take advantage of the valuable no-cost BERC resources available to them.”

Part of the Mid-Maryland Workforce Investment Area, the BERC mission is to develop a highly trained and effective workforce for new and existing businesses, to assist individuals in achieving employment and to encourage lifelong learning.
