Savage Dance Company Holds Master Classes With ABT Dancer

Local, young dancers had the opportunity to learn from one of the best Saturday as American Ballet Theatre soloist Misty Copeland made her way to to teach two master classes.

Copeland is a celebrity in the dance world, becoming the third African American female soloist and the first in two decades at the American Ballet Theatre.

She started studying ballet at the late age of 13, which is not commonly heard of in the industry.

On Saturday she taught two open master classes at Savage Dance Company, one for intermediate/advanced dancers ages 7-12 and one for intermediate/advanced ages 13-18.

The classes were $35 each and the sessions were followed by a meet and greet with Copeland.
