Sykesville Firefighters Help Battle Gamber Blaze
One person was reportedly injured as a result of house fire.

The Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department helped battle a house fire in Gamber this week.
At 4:10 a.m. on Monday, crews responded to the 3300 block of Sykesville Road, where a large two-story farm house was ablaze, according to the fire department.
Firefighters from Sykesville Freedom District were at the scene for several hours, helping to remove the roof from the house and porch to suppress the flames, the department reported.

Participating departments will canvass the community, checking and installing smoke alarms upon request. The fire marshal says that a smoke alarm should be replaced every 10 years.
More than half of all fire deaths occur in homes without a smoke alarm, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
