Sykesville Man Charged in Prostitution Sting: Report

Man allegedly met up with officer posing as prostitute online.

A Sykesville man is reportedly facing charges of soliciting a prostitute in Anne Arundel County.

Craig Ellis Dawkins, 49, of the 4800 block of Bernard Drive, was charged with two counts of prostitution from an incident that occurred on Nov. 7, 2014, court records show.

The charges stem from an undercover operation in which an Anne Arundel County Police Department officer posed as a prostitute online and arranged to meet Dawkins, according to the Associated Press.

When Dawkins met the undercover officer at a Linthicum hotel, their transactions were recorded on surveillance and after he exchanged money for what he thought would be sexual services, he was subsequently arrested, the Carroll County Times reported.

A criminal summons was issued in February but was not served, according to WJZ, which said he was arrested Monday and released.
