Removing the 16-Hour Parking Limit on Main Street
After surveying comments from businesses, residents and town staff, it was revealed that there is not a parking problem in downtown Sykesville. In fact, it was observed that between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. there are usually over 75 spaces available.
Therefore, the council has proposed that a code amendment be added that removes the 16 hour parking limit.
Unlawful to Park Trailers on Public Streets or Residential Areas
The council motioned to adopted an amendment to the code making it illegal to park a trailer on a public street, road or residential area for more than 48 hours.
The purpose, according to the council, is to eliminate a contradiction currently in the code.
