Water Meter Work in Sykesville to Cause Shutoff

Carroll County Bureau of Utilities announced upcoming project.

In its ongoing initiative to install curbside water meters vaults, the Carroll County Bureau of Utilities reports it will soon be in Sykesville.

The installation project will move to Georgetown Boulevard and throughout Sykesville starting Monday, March 23, according to an announcement from the bureau.

Before construction begins, Carroll County Bureau of Utilities personnel will put notices on doors to alert residents that from Monday to Friday, water service will be shut off from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on affected streets.

Water may be cloudy for up to an hour after water comes back on, officials said. Turning on cold water for several minutes should clear the line.

“It is advisable to refrain from using high water volume appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, etc., during periods of cloudy water or low pressure,” according to the Carroll County Bureau of Utilities.
