Actalent Honored with the 2026 American Cancer Society MileOne Autogroup Visionary Award
For supporting the Center for Innovation in Cancer Research Training that provides opportunities for college and post-baccalaureate students

The American Cancer Society, Maryland has recognized Actalent with the 2026 MileOne Autogroup Visionary Award for Actalent’s support over the past four years, including a significant contribution to the American Cancer Society Center for Innovation in Cancer Research Training (CICRT).
The American Cancer Society CICRT basic internship program takes place at numerous institutions across the country, including the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) under the leadership of Professor Tonya Webb, PhD, associate director for Workforce Excellence and Development and assistant dean of Student Engagement & Student Life. The UMSOM CICRT program has been ongoing since 2021.
American Cancer Society (ACS) research interns spend 10 weeks during the summer engaging in hands-on research for which they receive a paid stipend. Each ACS-funded institution hosts between four to eight interns each summer. They are mentored by an accomplished investigator in a cancer research lab or in a clinical or community setting and engage in year-round, planned career-development and networking activities.
