Colors I Love This Month

I love color so it's very hard to pick a favorite, but often something catches my eye and I can't stop thinking about those colors!

This month, those colors are emerald green and plum/dark purple.

Jewel tones are everywhere this fall—from fashion and kitchen to home decor and paint colors. If you haven't given either of these colors much thought lately, I encourage you to take a second look.

Emerald green is a show stopper. Period. It's striking, sophisticated and bold. I love to see it brought into a home via accessories such as lamps, decorative bowls or pillows.

It pairs great with brown, camel and cream and all metallics. Try it in a napkin on your holiday table for an added pop. Look at these great emerald green photos for inspiration.

Plum is one of my constant favorites, but it's on my mind this month because a friend recently painted a wall in her family room a deep purple shade. She is in love and I agree—it's a fabulous color for the home.

She's paired her purple with green furnishings, and that works well because they are complementary colors. It can be great on upholstered pieces too as plum can read as a neutral since it's so dark. Not ready for that? Try it in glassware on your holiday table for a conversation starter.
