Marylanders Will Shop Tax-Free This Weekend
Energy Star products are exempt from Maryland's 6 percent sales tax this weekend.
Shop Maryland Energy weekend is in full swing.
All Energy Star lighting products and appliances are exempt from Maryland’s 6 percent sales tax at retail stores statewide from Feb. 18 to Feb. 20.
Products earn the Energy Star label by meeting the energy efficiency requirements set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The tax-free weekend starts at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20.
The program began in 2007 when legislation passed in a special session of the Maryland General Assembly declaring that the tax-free weekend would occur every year during the weekend immediately preceding the third Monday in February.
