Elkridge Man Faces Drug Charges After Driving into Building

The 21-year-old from Elkridge plowed into an industrial gas facility in Jessup.

On Thursday morning, an Elkridge man drove into a building housing industrial gases, said police. No one was injured, according to officials.

"Police responded to GTS Inc. in the 8000 block of Dorsey Run Road at 1:23 a.m. after receiving a call from someone at the location that a Ford Ranger had struck the building," said Elizabeth Schroen, spokeswoman for Howard County Police Department.

"The driver, Charles Adams Mills, 21, of Tufts Drive in Elkridge, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Additional traffic charges are pending," continued Schroen. "No one was injured."

GTI confirmed that "an incident occurred" but would not allow Patch to take pictures of the damage. An employee stated that the building was a Homeland Security hazmat site and contained classified information.

Police said the vehicle struck a part of the facility that did not contain hazardous materials.

"The hazardous materials were in a different area than the crash," said Schroen.
