Fatal Head-On Crash Closes Part of Route 100: Police
A man died driving the wrong way on MD 100 near Meadowridge Road after he crashed into a tractor-trailer, Howard County police said.

ELKRIDGE, MD — A driver was killed Monday after police said he was going the wrong direction on MD 100 in Elkridge and crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer. A fire broke out, a second crash ensued and eastbound lanes were closed on MD 100 for police investigation.
Julio Cesar Grimaldo Gonzalez, 24, of Ellicott City, was pronounced deceased at the scene — on MD 100 between Snowden River Parkway and MD 103/Meadowridge Road — the Howard County Police Department reported.
At 3:27 a.m., Gonzalez was allegedly driving west on eastbound MD 100 when his 2015 Chevrolet Camaro hit a 2010 International Truck and the Camaro caught fire, according to police.

Another vehicle — a 2007 Chevrolet Impala — hit the tractor-trailer as well, according to police. That vehicle was headed east on MD 100.
Neither the tractor-trailer driver (Juan Manuel Uribe, 51, of Roanoke, VA) nor the Impala driver (Charles Kelley, 50, of Halethorpe) was injured, police said.

Police said Gonzalez was determined to have been at fault since he was driving the wrong direction. It was not immediately known why he was traveling against traffic.
MD 100 was closed to eastbound traffic as police investigated. It remained closed after 10 a.m., police said. Snowden River Parkway was being used as a detour, State Highway officials reported.
