Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center will host a Suicide Prevention Symposium on Thursday, Sept. 12, 12-4:30 p.m., at the Robinson Nature Center in Columbia.
Registration and refreshments begin at noon. The symposium’s workshops and panel discussion include:
12:30-1:45 p.m.: Suicide Assessment Five-step Evaluation and Triage will feature tools for conducting a suicide assessment, estimating suicide risk, identifying protective factors and risk factors and developing interventions.

2-3:15 p.m.: Supporting Suicide Survivors: An Introduction will explore the journey of those grieving a loved one to suicide loss.
3:30-4:30 p.m.: Survivors of Suicide Loss: A Panel Discussion will feature personal stories of losing a loved one to suicide. This will be followed by questions from the audience.

Robinson Nature Center is located at 6692 Cedar Lane in Columbia. The cost for the symposium is $25, which includes 3.5 Category 1 CEUs for social workers and a light lunch. Registration is required.
