
Investigators are looking into an illegal spill of chemicals near the railroad tracks behind the that was reported Thursday morning.
"The material was one 55-gallon drum that had been dumped there," said Bob Sullivan, spokesman for CSX. "It contained a petroleum product, and it is being cleaned up this afternoon."
Anne Arundel County dispatched its hazardous materials crew at approximately 11 a.m., but by the time it arrived on O'Connor Drive, the drum was found to be harmless and the team was recalled, county fire officials said.
