Man Dies Following Motorcycle Crash on Route 1 in Jessup
Police believe the crash was caused by the other vehicle failing to yield right-of-way to oncoming traffic.
An Elkridge man died Wednesday after the motorcycle he was riding collided with another vehicle on Route 1 in Jessup.
Douglas Lee Gorenflo, 63, was taken to Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Howard County Police Department.
The crash happened at about 1:35 p.m. At the time, Gorenflo was riding his 2007 Honda Shadow northbound on Route 1 near the intersection with Montevideo Road.

A 2008 GMC Envoy–which had been traveling southbound on Route 1–turned left toward Montevideo Road and into the path of the motorcycle, police said. The motorcycle collided with the GMC Envoy's right rear door.
Police believe the crash was caused by the driver of the GMC Envoy failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic.

The driver, Jennifer Gaye Sizemore, a 43-year-old from Glen Burnie, was not injured in the collision, nor was her passenger, Heather Nichelle Krieger, 21, also of Glen Burnie.
All lanes on Route 1 were closed at Montevideo Road for approximately one and half hours, said police.
The crash remains under investigation.
