(UPDATED 2/16, 8:10 p.m.) Man Dies Following Crash Between His Motorcycle, Another Vehicle on Route 1 in Jessup

Police believe the crash was caused by the other vehicle failing to yield right-of-way to oncoming traffic.

A Howard County man died Wednesday after the motorcycle he was riding collided with another vehicle on Route 1 in Jessup.

Douglas Lee Gorenflo, 63, of Elkridge, was taken to Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Howard County Police Department.

The crash happened at about 1:35 p.m. At the time, Gorenflo was riding his 2007 Honda Shadow northbound on Route 1 near the intersection with Montevideo Road.

But then a 2008 GMC Envoy – which had been traveling southbound on Route 1 – turned left toward Montevideo Road and into the path of the motorcycle, police said. The motorcycle collided with the GMC Envoy's right rear door.

Police believe the crash was caused by the driver of the GMC Envoy failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.

The driver, Jennifer Gaye Sizemore, a 43-year-old from Glen Burnie, was not injured in the collision, nor was her passenger, Heather Nichelle Krieger, 21, also of Glen Burnie.

The crash remains under investigation.

Motorcyclist in Critical Condition Following Crash on Route 1 in Jessup

A man is in critical condition after his motorcycle and another vehicle collided on Washington Boulevard at Montevideo Road in Jessup Wednesday afternoon, according to the Howard County Police Department police.

At approximately 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, police received a call that a motorcycle crash had occurred on US. Route 1 at Montevideo Road. The motorcyclist – who has not yet been identified – was taken Howard County General Hospital where he remains in critical condition, said police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.

It has not been determined who was at fault, said  Llewellyn.

The crash remains under investigation.
