Change Clocks, Batteries for Daylight Saving

The State Fire Marshal's Office reminds local residents to change smoke alarm batteries.

 

Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour for daylight saving time, a change that officially took place at 2 a.m. Sunday.

The adjustment this year lasts until Nov. 4, when it will be time to "fall back" an hour.

On March 11 as we "spring forward," the State Fire Marshal is urging Marylanders to change more than just their clocks.

"Changing the battery in your smoke alarms and CO detectors...are two of the best ways to protect your loved ones and yourself from fire and carbon monoxide poisoning," stated Fire Marshal Barnard.

"This simple step can help us avoid tragedies in the place we feel the most secure—our homes," said Barnard.

An last August of what officials said was likely carbon monoxide poisoning, in his home on Old Saint John's Lane where batteries in the carbon monoxide detector were dead.
