Patapsco Heritage Greenway Hosts 2nd Annual Summit

Officials from Howard and Baltimore counties will meet to discuss ways to enhance the Patapsco heritage area.

ELKRIDGE, MD - From the Howard County Council: Howard County Councilman Jon Weinstein and Baltimore County Councilman Tom Quirk have joined with the Patapsco Heritage Greenway to co-host the second annual Patapsco Summit. This cross-County meeting with community stakeholders will discuss ways to leverage Howard and Baltimore Counties' resources to enhance the Patapsco Heritage Area shared by both jurisdictions. Patapsco State Park is a local environmental and historical treasure, a destination for Marylanders and tourists from around the country. The rebuilding of Main Street, Ellicott City following the flash flood of July 2016, has focused attention on the enormous asset the Heritage Area is for both jurisdictions' economies and quality of life.

According to Howard County Councilman Jon Weinstein, "This summit brings together groups critical to the success of the Patapsco Heritage Area. I'm thrilled again to work with my friend, Baltimore County Councilman Tom Quirk, to focus energy and attention on this area we share. Our efforts illustrate that the river binds the communities on both sides of the Patapsco."

Patapsco Heritage Greenway President, Grace Kubofcik commented, "The Patapsco Heritage Greenway is honored to host the upcoming Patapsco Summit on behalf of Councilmen Quirk and Weinstein. We are appreciative of the foresight both have shown and their recognition of the important role interjurisdictional communication, cooperation and planning will play in the success of the Patapsco Valley Heritage Area going forward. We couldn't ask for two greater partners."
