Police Say Man Shot in Vehicle on Montevideo Road in Jessup

A man was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center Wednesday morning after being shot in what police said was a probable attempted suicide in a vehicle near Soccer Dome in Jessup.

The man called 9-1-1 at 11:12 a.m., according to the police dispatch unit, to report the shooting. The caller was located in a white Buick on the 7300 block of Montevideo Road in Jessup and flown to the hospital. At the time of transport, he was in critical condition, according to Howard County police spokeswoman Elizabeth Schroen.

Police said it was an attempted "probable suicide." 

Traffic on Montevideo Road was jammed from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A line of trucks trailed from the scene near Soccer Dome toward Route 1 as police investigated.
