Pole Dancers Take Elkridge for a Spin
The Tri-State Invitational twirled through the Howard County Sports Center.
Elkridge was on the cutting edge of fitness last weekend when it hosted 36 pole dancers for a regional competition at the .Â
Jessalynn Medairy, founder of the Tri-State Invitational and owner of Pole Pressure studio, said she chose the Elkridge venue because "this is a sports complex and we consider this a sport."Â
In fact, the sport is currently trying to earn Olympic status, according to The Washington Post and CBS News.

Sixteen fitness studios participated in the March 11 event in Elkridge, which included athletes from Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Now in its second year, the competition is "the pinnacle of regional competitions," said Medairy. There is no national event, but she said, "Maybe one day..."

- Vacant (winner had to forfeit title because she was actually an instructor)
