
Officers for Fiscal Year 14 were elected at the annual meeting of The Arc of Howard County. Ellicott City resident Edward Wilson, Executive Director of Association Sales for Constellation Energy, was elected President. Other officers include Columbia resident Dorothy Plantz, Director of Admission and Advising at Howard Community College, Vice President; William Erskine, Principal with Offit Kurman Attorneys at Law, Secretary; and Jane Padgett, Administrative Vice President and Regional Sales Manager for M&T Bank in the Treasury Management & Merchant Services Division, Treasurer. Douglas Erdman, co-owner and president of Community Realty Co., is President Emeritus.
Two new board members were elected at the annual meeting: Steve Smith and Kathy Rama Tellis. Smith is Area Executive for the Howard County market for BB&T. Tellis is retired from the federal Department of Health and Social Services. Reelected to the board were Cathy Cope, Pam Guzzone and Lisa Hussman.
Since its inception in 1961, The Arc has become one of Howard County’s largest employers, with more than 300 staff members and hundreds of volunteers working to achieve full community life for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It provides a range of residential, employment and family support services.
