HCPSS Sees Another Building Certified As A Maryland Green School

The Howard County Public School System has a total of 50 schools participating in the Maryland Green Schools program.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A Howard County public school recently became certified as a Maryland Green School by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education. Howard High School received certification while 11 HCPSS schools have recertified, six of these at the sustainable level, including Atholton, Hollifield Station, Manor Woods, Northfield, Swansfield and Thunder Hill elementary schools.

Triadelphia Ridge Elementary School has recertified at the new sustainable bronze level with 20 years of sustainable school engagement.

HCPSS has a total of 50 schools participating in the Maryland Green Schools program. The program provides educational opportunities for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade schools that promote responsible environmental stewardship practices and increase awareness of how their relationship with the environment ultimately impacts public health and society.
