Walmart Shooting Injures 1 In Ellicott City: Police

The suspect in the Ellicott City Walmart shooting is at large, police reported Sunday afternoon.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – One person was shot and injured as the result of a fight overnight at the Ellicott City Walmart, according to police. The altercation occurred around midnight, authorities reported Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to the store in the 3200 block of North Ridge Road for a report of shots fired and said officers found a man who had been injured by gunfire.

He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment, officials reported.

The victim had been shot inside the store by a suspect whose identity was unknown. The alleged shooter was described as a thin black man around 20 to 25 years old who was approximately 6 feet tall, police reported.

Although the investigation is ongoing, authorities said the victim was involved in a fight inside the store during which he was shot; then he went out to the parking lot, got a gun from a vehicle and shot several times toward the store. Nobody was injured, police said.
