2 Ellicott City Businesses Burglarized: Police

Police were at the scene of one burglary on Route 40 in Ellicott City when authorities said another was reported.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Two businesses were burglarized on Route 40 in Ellicott City over the weekend, according to police. Officials said they were investigating one burglary when another was called in nearby.

First, police said an alarm drew officers to the Verizon store in the 9300 block of Baltimore National Pike early Saturday morning.

At 4:09 a.m., the alarm sounded at the electronics store, where a service kiosk had been tampered with, officials said. It was unclear whether anything was taken.

As investigators were looking into the burglary at the Verizon store, police said that officers were called to Sunoco in the 8400 block of Baltimore National Pike/US 40. The gas station was about 3 miles away.

Cigarettes were taken from the Sunoco, according to police. The burglary at the gas station was reported at 4:15 a.m. on Saturday.
