2 Howard County Library System Employees Test Positive For COVID

Out of an abundance of caution, the Elkridge and Miller branches will be closed for cleaning Saturday and Sunday.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Library System has been notified that two employees have tested positive for COVID-19. The Baltimore County Department of Health is conducting contact tracing. According to the library system, there are no reports that other staff or members of the public have been exposed.

HCLS branches are open only for contactless pickup of materials and members of the public have not been in physical contact with staff. Out of an abundance of caution, the Elkridge and Miller branches will be closed for cleaning Saturday and Sunday. Customers who had appointments for contactless pickup during the closure can pick up their items Monday and do not need to schedule a new pickup time.

According to the library, customers should not be at risk because staff wear masks while handling materials.
